Jesus gave his followers two practices ("ordinances") that we are to continue until he returns. One is baptism and the other is Communion. At Journey, we have Communion once a month, usually on the second Sunday.
We practice open Communion, which means it doesn't matter what denomination you come from or what your church background is. The only thing that matters is whether or not you have put your faith in Jesus Christ. If you have, then you are a Christ-follower (Christian) and you are welcome to participate in Communion.
Communion is a time when we remember thatt Jesus died on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven and our broken relationship with God could be restored. All we need to do is put our faith in that, and not in religion. |
